Country and City
Homes in the country and city have similar plumbing needs but differ depending on the water source. Municipal water may involve varying degrees of hardness which can create problems with your plumbing. Many homeowners reduce this by installing a water softener. Municipal water is distributed after it is treated at a water treatment plant which is operated by the city or town. It ensures safe drinking water. While water tends to be softer when it is drawn from a well, lake, or river, treatment for sediment, e-coli, bacteria, tannins and more becomes the responsibility of the homeowner.
Outgoing water, called wastewater, in a city or town, flows from the toilet, shower, sink, etc., through a series of sewage pipes to a wastewater treatment plant where it goes through a cleaning process to remove solids, chemicals, and other undesirable material. Many rural homes and most cottages dispose of wastewater through a septic system which has to be maintained and pumped out regularly, depending on usage.
Multiple Residential Units
The plumbing needs of homeowners who live in multi-unit buildings such as linked townhouses, condominiums, and retirement homes are unique to each building and are subject to the rules and regulations of a board, superintendent, or building manager. While individual owners pay for the plumbing in their unit, there is an overlap, because each unit is linked to the whole. Because of this, permissions may be required before doing any repairs or changes. Access to the building, elevator use, and the like, may also be required. Sometimes management will also require residents to use a designated plumber.
Business, Commercial & Industrial Plumbing
Plumbtech also works with businesses, restaurants, owners, and managers of office buildings and light industrial companies to install, maintain, and repair plumbing. The needs of each are similar in that each uses water and creates wastewater but they are as individual as the company. They are also subject to industry regulations. A different type of expertise is required for industrial and commercial plumbing because systems tend to be larger, and often encompass multiple fixtures on several floors and all of it has to work together to serve business owners, employees, and the customers that use their product or service.
Plumbtech’s industrial and commercial plumbing experts are experienced in providing a wide variety of services from backflow prevention valve installation, testing, and maintenance, to rainwater leader installation and repair from roof drains, grease trap installation and maintenance, as well as video drain inspection, pump installation and maintenance, water and air lines. In addition, Plumbtech can also do general plumbing, whether it is repairing or installing new fixtures, clearing clogged toilets and sinks, investigating and repairing leaks, cleaning drains, and more.
