#1 Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie helps women become economically independent
The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie’s vision is a world where women do not live in poverty; are treated with dignity and respect; and are strengthening their families and shaping their communities. They work with women who are actively seeking employment, have scheduled job interviews, or have recently acquired a job or placement/co-op. They provide free professional clothing through their Suiting Program, and skill-building and a supportive community through their Breakfast Club and Professional Women’s Group programs. The Breakfast Club program includes a free hair & makeup session and a professional LinkedIn headshot. #2 You can support Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie’s programs by becoming a monthly donor (GEM)
Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie’s programs are provided free to clients. Donations help them operate their office/boutique in Barrie and run their programming. You can donate to support Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie’s programs by making a one-time donation, or provide regular support by becoming a GEM (Giving Every Month).
#3 Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie is accepting volunteer applications
Volunteers have been the backbone of Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie since they opened their doors in 2014. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from assisting in the boutique to helping out with fundraising events. Sign up to volunteer here.
#4 Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie is holding their annual Power of the Purse fundraiser on January 29th
Every year Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie holds their Power of the Purse fundraiser. It’s their biggest fundraiser of the year, and this will be the second year it’s held virtually. This year’s event features Layne the Auctionista, emcees Dale and Charlie from Kool FM, and the amazing Irish Mythen as a musical guest. There will be designer and one-of-a-kind handbags to bid on, as well as unique experiences. For more information, visit www.dfspowerofthepurse.com
#5 There’s a need for non-office related workplace attire
Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie has clients who need clothing for food service and construction jobs. The organization is seeking donations of steel toe boots, reflective vests, warm hoodies, work pants (like Dickies), and black non-slip shoes.
