Ahhh….warmth and sunshine. Occasionally we’re fortunate to get a January thaw that brings both, sometimes days of it, to enjoy. It’s a little taste of spring.
Of course, everything that melts at this time will also freeze again. That means outdoor plumbing that’s exposed to different temperature fluctuations. Seasonal residences may be affected too although any damage (split plumbing lines, exploded pumps, and the like) may not be apparent until start-up in the spring.
Any water lines that froze earlier this winter may freeze again once temperatures drop. A frozen pipe needs to be thawed as quickly and safely as possible. Using a propane torch is not a good idea as it’s been known to start a fire. If you should find yourself in this situation, call Plumbtech sooner than later.
It’s also a good idea to take a look at prevention tactics. Is it possible to insulate the susceptible pipe? Leave a cabinet door open?
With over 30 years of experience, Plumbtech Plumbing staff have seen it all. They can provide advice, solutions and naturally, they can also fix your plumbing line the next time it freezes too.
